Four Seasons Sunrooms' CEO Gives Back to Local High School Students
Discusses Role of Technology in Today's Workplace
HOLBROOK, NY (November, 2007) -- Four Seasons Sunrooms' President and CEO Mitch Pisik is giving back to get back. Recognizing that today's students will become tomorrow's workforce, Pisik is donating his time to work with local high school students to explain the vital role technology plays in the manufacturing company he runs.
With technology a vital aspect of every workplace, today's students need to learn what career paths potentially lay in their future, and how to prepare for them. At the Technology in the Workplace Power Brunch being held at Ward Melville High School on November 28, 2007, students from both Three Village and Port Jefferson will meet with leaders in diverse industries to explore the exciting options opening for them.
"Four Seasons Sunrooms may not be a high-tech company like Apple Computer or Microsoft," Pisik said. "But emerging technologies have revolutionized our business like every other. I hope to show these students that you cannot be a successful business, or a successful businessperson, without utilizing the technology that is available in every aspect of the business."
Experts in Robotic Surgery, Toxicology, Aviation, Publishing, Wholesale Operation, Music Instrument Manufacturing, Managed Services, Graphic and Website Design, Sunroom and Conservatory Manufacturing, and Automotive Computerization will share insights about their careers with students at the event, sponsored by the Three Village CSD Education & Business Advisory Alliance (E&B AA).
"Technology comprises a large part of industry today, but while many young people are computer and X-box savvy to a good extent, that does not make them experts in evolving technology in the workplace," notes Jeanne Schnupp, E&B AA coordinator. "At this event they will hear from highly successful people about the broad range of careers coming to the forefront in today's fast paced, changing business world."
Four Seasons Sunrooms is the premier year-round sunroom, patio room and conservatory manufacturer in North America. The company employs over 400 at its corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility in Holbrook, NY. "From the manufacturing floor, through engineering, through to the accounting department – there's not an aspect of the business that hasn't been touched by new technology, Pisik said. "The technology available today enables workers to perform their roles more accurately, more efficiently and more cost-effectively. Businesses and business people that do not utilize the technology and evolve the business, will be left behind."
At round tables, panel members will chat candidly about their fields with 10 students, periodically shifting so that every student has a chance to talk with every guest. This is the seventh brunch held in the hugely popular Power Brunch series.
Sponsors of the Brunch are Four Seasons Sunrooms, Setauket Strathmore Bagels, Setauket King Kullen, Commerce Bank and Costco Wholesalers.
The E&B AA is a coalition of parents, students, teachers and business leaders who work together to develop unique career and community service exploration activities for high school students.
