Stuff a Sunroom to Fight Hunger
GARDEN CITY PARK, NY (December 2007) - Four Seasons Sunrooms of Holbrook is helping to feed Long Island's hungry this holiday season.
Every year, 259,000 Long Islanders turn to soup kitchens, food pantries and other emergency programs to feed themselves and their children. A local Long Island company, Island Harvest, collects and delivers, free of charge, to 440 soup kitchens, food pantries and other emergency and non-emergency food programs throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties. Since its inception in 1992, Island Harvest has delivered more than 43 million pounds of food supplementing more than 33 million meals. Island Harvest serves as the bridge between those who have surplus food and those who need it. Its staff and volunteers pick up good surplus food from supermarkets, delis, caterers, hotels, wholesalers, distributors and food drives.

On Saturday, Dec. 22, Four Seasons will attempt to fill one of its beautiful sunrooms with food to feed the hungry. The 8x15-feet sunroom will be parked at the Waldbaums supermarket at 2475 Jericho Turnpike, in Garden City from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Four Seasons Sunrooms is hoping that everyone going in to stock up for their personal holiday feast will pick up a little extra to help stuff the sunroom and feed Long Island's hungry.
